This Fourth of July, take your summer BBQ to new heights by incorporating perfectly paired coffee and tea drinks. We will also show you how you can infuse coffee into recipes to create a mouthwatering barbecue.

ICED TEAS AND COLD BREW

To beat the summer heat, consider making your own refreshing iced teas using one of our many The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® teas.  Experiment with cold brew tea or fruit-infused tea to create refreshing flavor combinations.

If you’re a coffee lover, make some cold brew coffee to share with your guests. Use The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Cold Brew Coarse Ground Coffee Blend with Chicory. It’s the same coffee we use for our cold brew drinks in cafés.  You can also try these three incredible cold-brew coffee recipes that would make a fantastic addition to any potluck.

BBQ COFFEE RUB

Have you ever thought of using coffee on your meats? For a truly memorable barbecue experience, try a coffee rub on your bbq beef, prime rib, or steaks! Contrary to what you may think, your barbecue won’t taste like coffee. Instead, the coffee acts as a meat tenderizer and a flavor enhancer, adding richness and depth to your favorite cuts of beef.

Here’s a basic recipe that you can customize to your taste.

Mix together:

  • 2 Tablespoons coarse freshly ground coffee
  • 2 Tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp salt

Apply the rub at least an hour before cooking to allow the flavors to meld together.  The result is an incredible crust and tender, flavorful meat that will have everyone coming back for seconds.

COFFEE BBQ SAUCE

What’s a barbecue without BBQ sauce? It’s essential! We found this coffee-licious recipe on The Spruce Eats website and it was too good not to share. If you’re looking for an intriguing twist on traditional barbecue sauce, make your own coffee-infused version.

This BBQ sauce recipe incorporates:

  • espresso or strong brewed coffee
  • ketchup
  • vinegar
  • brown sugar
  • onion
  • garlic
  • chili peppers
  • dry mustard
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Cumin
  • chili powder

For the coffee, try The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Espresso Roast Blend or one of our Dark Roasts like Bali Blue Moon Single Origin Dark Roast Coffee or Organic Mexico Single Origin Dark Roast. Remember that the coffee has to be brewed first.
